Back Pain

Back Pain

Causes, Diagnosis, and Chiropractic Treatment

Low back pain is very common, with statistics reporting that about 85% of the population in Western countries will experience episodes of back pain in their lifetime. Fortunately, most causes of these symptoms are mechanical in nature, with more serious conditions being much less common.

The factors that can cause low back pain are numerous and can vary from poor posture, repetitive movements, improper exertion, to muscle tension caused by emotional problems or stress. Aging can also contribute to our pain. Indeed, intervertebral discs tend to thin out, causing stiffness and pain that make movement more difficult.
It is very important to identify the specific structures causing the symptoms in order to better direct therapeutic intervention. The chiropractor precisely identifies the subluxated area and corrects it with specific spinal adjustments. This restores the correct tonicity of the nervous system, which will have a positive effect on many elements related to our structure, such as its movement, muscle tone, and blood flow.

Once the back pain has passed, it does not mean that everything has been resolved. Indeed, as explained earlier, symptoms are merely an alarm bell helping us understand that there is a problem to solve. Symptoms are just like the tip of an iceberg, and chiropractic care must be continued as explained in the phases of therapy. Chiropractic also addresses changing lifestyle elements that could interfere with healing and an optimal state of health.

Other treatable symptoms

Cervicalgia

The cervical spine is critical for neurological signals and brain support.
Neck problems result from trauma and poor posture due to electronic devices.

Whiplash

It occurs not only in traffic accidents, but also in sports such as rugby, boxing and basketball, where the neck undergoes violent movements, causing injury to the muscles and ligaments of the cervical spine.

Herniated disc

The spine is composed of vertebrae connected by joints and intervertebral discs, which provide movement and cushioning.
Incorrect alignment can cause herniated discs, with leakage of internal material that can compress the spinal cord and nerves.

Headache

Headaches are classified into primary and secondary.
Primary, 95 percent of cases, include migraine, muscle-tensive, and cluster headaches.
Secondary ones result from other causes such as sinusitis, medications, meningitis, trauma, tumors, and cervical problems.

Shoulder pain

The shoulder is a complex joint that balances mobility and stability through the cooperation of three main joints and two pseudo-joints, controlled by 23 muscles.
Biomechanical problems of the spine can affect the shoulder, causing incorrect movements and microtrauma.
